Practical Zbrush course

Practical Zbrush course

WeWork Hazerem, ImpactLabs compound, Hapelech 7 St. Tel Aviv, Israel

About Zbrush

Zbrush is the leading digital sculpting software that simulates intuitive and figurative sculpting of clay together with the sophistication and precision of “digitization”. Zbrush  is widely used in various industries – plastic arts, jewelry, animation studios, the computer games industry and the engineering and medical industries.

The software enables integration of geometric design with sculptural additions to a variety of needs. With the increasing use of 3D prints, Zbrush  enables bridging between physical and digital content, especially in content that correlates with the body due to the figurative nature of the software.

Study format

The course is practical and the tools taught in each session will be implemented in a personal project which will be printed on ImpactLabs industrial 3D printers.

In the first part of the course we experience various sculptural works that we begin in the class and continue with a home exercise.

In the second part of the course we focus on the personal project, while developing the sculpting and modeling capabilities that will gradually be built throughout the course.

  • Add and subtract entities to a model with Live Boolean.
  • Using Zremesh and Dynamesh to rearrange the polygons in the model.
  • Paint the model using Polypaint.
  • Working with lighting in the software, issuing a two-dimensional renderer and familiarity with various methods of importing and exporting 3D models.
  • Create a UV map, prepare and export the 3D print models.
